Come in...
Friday, February 18, 2011 at 2:54PM This in my attempt to revamp and head to greener pastures. As a 30 year old who was diagnosed with breast cancer (no family history) while 8 months pregnant with my third son, I decided I needed to take it upon myself to make healthier changes for me and my family. I have always been active but I'm known to indulge in the salty things in life (popcorn, chips, fries, pizza, salami, etc). I am ready to clean out my old self and become healthier, wiser, greener, and more organic. That means all of my lovely makeup (sorry bobbi brown)/ toxic cleaning products/ and highly processed food is going in the trash--see ya!
Now, I am not claiming to be an expert on this subject. Really, I have no idea what I am doing. I have the help of pretty savvy friends, books, and websites I count on. This is going to be a process but the goal is health, better living, and cleaner planet- sounds pretty kick ass to me.
I have been experimenting with foods and juices that make me feel 100% fantastic the past two months. My diet of cheese, chips, fries, cheese, meats, little veggies is getting a makeover. Move over processed foods and hello organics and where have you been my whole life juicing! I am off of dairy (minus an occasional egg and at times butter). I am 95% of the week a vegatarian. I eat meat when I know that it is organic and have not been pumped with hormones-hello grass fed. I would love to experiment with raw maybe one day a week.
Honestly, my body is my navigator. I have been finding that eating greener has given me more energy and a bounce to life (good god I need it with three boys under 4). But really, if I happen to be craving something naughty, I will give in but, in moderation.
We will see where this journey takes me. I am ready to eat the rainbow and I would love others to join. I am hoping my photography will get better as I promise to show lots of pics- kids, dog, food, and things that make me happy. It can't all be about green so I will share music, books, and art that I just adore.
I feel inspired and I hope you do to!
