Green Machine
Friday, February 18, 2011 at 5:31PM I love to juice- LOVE to juice! I have been doing it on and off for about two years. However, I have been getting into green smoothies. I like it as an alternative to juicing and you don't have to waste all of the pulp, fiber, and many of the nutrients. Blending is a blast of liquid goodness. It's a synch to make and the best thing of all, easy on the dishes!!! Instead of just extracting juice, it liquefies; leafs, seeds, fruits, and veggies. I have to add water or it turns to pudding. Yes, I know many of you are probably gagging but I promise, it's not bad at all. I love the taste, comfort, and more importantly- the I can conquer the world energy- I get. If you are new to green smoothies start out with more fruit and then add a handful of spinach (it is mild tasting in smoothies). I try to do the 3:1 ratio. 3 veggies to one fruit. I also to add protein powder for some extra goodness. Currently I adore Vega. More on Vega later....

Ice, half avocado, 1 banana, 1 pear, 1/2 cucumber, handful of spinach, a bunch of kale leaves, protein powder, 1 cup water
